Our History
Breast Cancer is the Most Commonly Diagnosed Cancer Among Women Worldwide, Excluding Skin Cancer.
United in Pink was founded in 2007 by Sandy Union, a local breast cancer survivor, and her daughter, Laura Paxton, who now serves as our Executive Director. Their experience navigating Sandy’s diagnosis revealed a critical gap in care—while medical treatment was available, the emotional, financial, and relational needs of the entire family were often overlooked. United in Pink was born to meet those needs and to ensure no family faces this journey alone.
From day one, our mission has been clear: to support families as a whole—from diagnosis, throughout treatment, and beyond. We recognize that the breast cancer journey doesn’t end with treatment. It leaves lasting effects on every member of the family, which is why our support is comprehensive and ongoing.
Over the years, United in Pink has expanded its reach across 23 counties in Central Georgia, offering programs that serve survivors, spouses, children, and caregivers. From therapeutic services and educational workshops to wellness events and peer connection, our organization remains committed to walking beside families every step of the way.
All of our services are provided free of charge, made possible solely through individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and local foundation grants. We do not receive any state or federal funding—our work is powered by the compassion and generosity of the community we serve.
Rooted in love, resilience, and the belief that no one should face breast cancer alone, United in Pink continues to honor its founders’ vision—offering hope and support, one family at a time.
